The undisputed symbol of the Saarland. In addition to the venerable Cloef lookout point, the Saarschleife treetop path (which opened in July 2016) with its 42-metre-high observation tower, offers spectacular views of the characteristic course of the river.

The Saarschleife (Saar loop) begins in the Merzig suburb of Bessringen and ends in Mettlach. VIPs and politicians regularly visit the attraction when they travel to the Saarland. The most famous guests include Gerhard Schröder, Jacques Chirac and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. The 1,250-metre-long treetop path, which opened in 2016, is located just above the lookout point near Orscholz. It leads from the Cloef atrium to the 42-metre-high observation tower, and offers several interesting stops with information boards along the way. The path is barrier-free and has a gentle incline of six percent.

The exclusive 18-hole golf course is idyllically located on a plateau in the municipality of Wallerfangen, 340 meters above the Saargau ridge between the rivers Saar and Moselle. The green offers a great view of the surrounding area, and gorgeous old trees make for an exceptionally beautiful backdrop. In terms of gameplay, the course can be quite challenging, so it is particularly suitable for more experienced players. Not only do the people of Saarbrücken love their bustling city centre with the Bahnhofstrasse and the large Europagalerie for shopping; the French also appreciate the wide range of brands and the markets. Culture is also an important topic in Saarbrücken. While major works are performed at the Saarland State Theatre, an urban subculture has established itself in the eastern part of Saarbrücken. However, the most important sights such as Saarbrücken Castle, the baroque Ludwigskirche and the idyllic German-French Garden are right by the hotel.

The Modern Gallery of the Saarlandmuseum is situated close to the heart of Saarbrücken, and is one of the leading museums in south-west Germany. The exhibits in the museum complex range from Impressionism to the present. Key topics are the paintings of the Berlin Secession, German Expressionism and the art of the École de Paris and Informalism.

World famous: Franz Marc's "Blue Horse". While changing exhibitions of modern art attract visitors on the inside, outside is a generously designed sculpture garden with views of the Saar.
The extension, which opened in November 2017, offers some 1500 m² additional exhibition space, eight halls and a 14-m high room in the centre of the pavilion with plenty of space for contemporary works of art.

An easy ride from Saargemünd to Trier: the Saar cycle path runs right past our hotel. So step on it!

There are no major inclines on the Saar cycle path, and it passes picturesque landscapes, forests, meadows and vineyards. The Saarschleife at Mettlach and the picturesque little town of Saarburg are special highlights along the way. Incidentally, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is about a 30-minute cycle ride from the hotel. The Saar cycle path is 111 kilometres long.

The mostly easy-to-cycle route runs mainly along the river valleys of the Saar, Moselle and Sauer. The border triangle between Germany, France and Luxembourg, with its gently rising vineyards, is seen at its most beautiful.
